Dark Skies is an upcoming American science fiction horror film. A psychological thriller about a suburban couple whose lives become a nightmare when a terrifying alien presence enters their home each night to prey upon their children. Increasingly isolated from skeptical friends and neighbors, the couple is forced to take matters into their own hands to save their family.
Movie Review
Good horror films are imprinted by the fears and anxieties of the day. The movie starts slowly, as a suburban couple (Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton) and their two young sons start to notice odd things happening around the house, such as finding a towering construction of precariously piled food containers in the kitchen. (If this were a contemporary art museum, and not a ranch house, that would be cool, not creepy.)
Great J.K. Simmons as a character who shows up to explain things that could have been revealed with a little more life and originality. Dakota Goyo was an especially smart choice to play their thirteen-year-old son. The basic plot line is followed and Simmons shows up to explain the obvious, they even do a short reminder near the end to let the audience in on what we have already witnessed.
It’s nice to know there are some things you can pick up at Home Depot that will, at the very least, slow down your nightmares.
